Isabella Nasya

A Voice of Resilience and Hope

Isabella Nasya, a budding author and blogger, was raised as the youngest of eight children in the rural Appalachian mountains of West Virginia, where her German immigrant mother and retired Airman father instilled in her a deep faith and a resilience that has shaped her life.

As a breast cancer survivor and domestic violence advocate, Isabella’s experiences as a widow and former restaurant owner have given her a unique perspective on the human condition. Her writing explores themes of faith, prayer, and the power of hope in the face of adversity.

Isabella's journey through hardship and triumph has not only fueled her passion for storytelling but has also inspired her to use her platform to shed light on important issues and advocate for those who may feel voiceless. Through her words, Isabella seeks to uplift and empower others, showing that even in the darkest of times, there is always a glimmer of hope to hold onto.

Isabella is in the process of establishing the Isabella Nasya Foundation and the Dakota’s Love Scholarship Fund in honor of all of those who are facing similar adversity as she did.

Isabella's name carries with it great meaning. The name Isabella is an Italian and Spanish variation of Elizabeth, which comes from the Hebrew name Elisheba, meaning "devoted to God" or "God is my oath". The name Nasya can be traced back to the a Hebrew origin of Nasia, which means "miracle of Yahweh"

What's your favorite hobby?

I have several. I enjoy baking, jewelry making, photography, reading, quilting, writing (obviously lol) and bargain hunting.

Favorite Restaurant?

I don't really have a favorite restaurant. I enjoy eating at different places. I particularly like eating at small mom and pop places. If they're off the beaten path even better! My favorite type of foods are homestyle, Mexican, Chinese and some Sushi.

Favorite Food?

I enjoy many dishes. I will try anything once, if I don’t like it, I will tell you. I’m not afraid to hurt your feelings about food! I am a foodie at heart. On the same token, if I love what I have tried, I will tell you and want to share it with you!

Give High School A Do-Over?

That’s a negative Ghost Rider, once was enough for me, besides, if I change the past, who is to say I would have the life I have now?

Favorite Quotes

"You survived the abuse, you will survive the recovery."

"Don't let the hard days win."

"Life's a dance, you learn as you go." John Michael Montgomery

Who is your favorite author?

I have a couple I enjoy reading. I like Beverly Lewis (Amish Style books) and Nicholas Sparks. There is another local author I enjoyed reading his work! His name is Bill Hutchenson.

What is your favorite Bible Verse?

I have several, but one of my favorites and one I try to live by (even though it is hard for me). Those who know me personally, understand how difficult of a challenge it is for me to live by this verse can be. The verse is: Exodus 14:14 "The Lord shall fight for you and ye shall hold your peace." KJV.

Questions from Readers and Fans

Favorite Vacation Spot?

I really haven't been on that many vacations, but I would have to say I love the beach and the Smokey Mountains. I do have a bucket list of places I want to visit. I am crossing a couple places off that list here in a couple of months. I plan to go on a cruise by the end of this year (it’ll be my first one ever!) —My bucket list is right here!

Favorite thing to do in your spare time?

Nap! When I was a child, I hated nap time. I thought of it as a punishment. I now think of it as a reward!

What is random fact about you others may not know?

Well, I am dyslexic. It makes writing interesting at time. My proofreaders and editors love me for that! I also have a TBI from domestic violence and have epilepsy. However, epilepsy doesn’t rule my life (although at times it may seem as though it does).

What is your favorite movie?

Gosh, that’s a hard question. I like a lot of movies, I can’t pick just one title, so I will go with genre. I like a good Rom-Com, Comedy or a good Slasher flick!

Chicago Wednesday (LOL),  Yellowstone, 1884 and 1923. I also enjoy True Crime shows.

A few, but those are things I will keep to myself for right now. They may be plots for books later, who knows.

Why did you start writing?

When I lost my husband, the love of my life, in 2024, I was devastated. I was suicidal and on the verge of being committed because of my mental state. My therapist suggested I begin writing (journaling) as a way of coping with my grief. I had been keeping a journal (diary) since I was a teenager, but with different moves throughout my life, I had lost them.

Of course I keep a prayer/Bible study journal, but this was different. One day during a session, we were looking through my journal and assessing my progress, she suggested I had enough for a book. I was hesitant at first. With her encouragement and others I put my thoughts into a manuscript. It was my goal that my story (journey) could help someone through something similar to what I had been through.

Writing is very therapeutic for me. I tend to write about topics some consider taboo. Do I care? Nope, If it triggers you, I sincerely apologize, Sometimes you need to be triggered or broken to allow God to heal you. That was part of the concept behind "Beautifully Broken. I had to allow God to break me to heal me. There were many, many times in my life (and there are still some) I wondered where is God? He was right there with me!

I saw something on Facebook the other day that made me think about my life and my journey, the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter and its silence wasn't about God's absence. God wasn't absent then, just like He isn't absent in your life when He's silent. He's there, He's just waiting for you to cry out for Him.

Do you have any words of wisdom for aspiring authors?

Well I sure do! These are a few things pieces of advice I was given and some that I wish I was given.

1. Keep writing, if you feel God has given you a story or has placed something on your heart that needs to be put out there...WRITE! Get it finished and make sure you have written it to the very best of your ability. Remember, do your best and God will do the rest!

2. Join a Christian writing group. There are dozens on Facebook alone. If you want to make your manuscript the best it can be, you need feedback. Joining one (or several) of these groups can help you learn from others. Who knows, some of them could learn from you! One group I joined when starting out was Faithwriters.com they were a wonderful help to me. Another one that I recommend looking into is American Christian Fiction Writers, they are great as well.

3. Get some feedback on your work. Like I said in point number two, if you want your manuscript to be the best,  you need feedback. There are some critique groups on Facebook, you may find an online group where you can take turns with other new authors reading each other's work. Some editors that want to gain experience or grow their portfolio will proof-read for free. In any case, use caution and consider getting a NDA signed from whomever you ask to read your work.

4. If you think you want to write a Christian mystery or a Christian Romance or just a general Christian fiction, read something by another author. You can get an idea of style for the genre and get a feel for things. Editors and publishers will look for someone who knows what they are doing, to a certain point, when they are scouting for new clients.

5. The Writer's Market is an invaluable tool for new authors. It's a powerful informational book that gets released every year. It contains a list of editors and agents who are seeking new material. Typically they are seeking unsolicited material, which means you don't need to work with an agent. You can find the 2025 edition by following this link to Amazon.com.

6. After you finish your book and after you are satisficed with your work it's time to write the synopsis. The synopsis is a one to two sentence summary of your plot. It will go a very long way in helping you convey your story and book to an editor or agent. Example: Behind Closed Doors is about a typical house wife in the 1950s. She grew tired of not having a "voice" in the world, when she stood up for herself, she paid the price.

7. Now that you have the synopsis, it's time to write the back cover for your book. You take the two sentence synopsis you just wrote and expand them to a single page (double-spaced). This should be a full summary of your book.

8. Once you have found an agent you want to work with (or two) it's time to send your project out to them. Here's what you will need to send:

-A cover letter introducing yourself and your project.

-A brief bio about yourself.

-Both of your synopses.

-First three chapters of your book (make sure it's edited and free of mistakes)

Finally and most importantly PRAY! Nothing is done without God in it middle of it. Without fervent prayer, any project you set out to do will fall flat on its face. If a publisher or agent says no, it's okay. Keep trying. If every one you submit your work to says no, it's okay. I submitted my work to seven agents and they all said no. So I said to myself, "Self," I knew it was me cause I was the one talking. "Self, we will just self-publish this baby." That's what I did. Yes, self publishing can cost you more upfront, but you know what, God is in control of the whole process.

Honestly at this point, I don't know that I would want to go to a traditional publisher. However, if that is your desire, aim for the moon and shoot out the stars! Go get em.
